Kids Skincare FAQ
Do kids really need skincare?
Kids’ facial skin needs cleansing, hydration, and protection just like the rest of their body! While they don’t need brightening or anti-aging benefits, kids do need protection from dryness, pollution, UVA/UVB, and increasing sebum production. A simple skincare routine sets the foundation for long-term healthy habits and self care, just keep it simple! All kids need are a gentle, hydrating cleanser, moisturizer, and SPF during the day.
At what age should my child start using skincare?
Kids need the daily protection of at least a sunscreen beginning at age 6 months. When you choose to add a gentle facial cleanser and moisturizer is up to you and your child’s needs, but it’s never too early to start teaching healthy skincare habits! Our kids skincare is formulated for kids age 3 and up.
What ages can use Evereden kids’ products?
Our kids skincare and haircare are formulated for the specific needs of kids age 3 and up. Prior to age 3, we recommend our baby collection which is more suitable for ages 0-2.
My child is asking me for adult skincare products. What should I do?
First, kids’ and tweens’ interest in skincare is not a bad thing. It’s natural, healthy, and a great opportunity to teach them good hygiene habits that will last a lifetime! Have a conversation with your child about their interest in skincare and what is appropriate for them! Many kids don’t understand why adult skincare products aren’t safe for them, and this is an opportunity for them to learn about their skin and skincare needs. Work with them to choose a simple skincare routine that is developed for and safe for kids.
Can kids use adults’ skincare products?
Sometimes, but it’s safer and easier to stick to clean products developed for and tested on kids! Kids’ skin is still thinner than adults’ and have not been exposed to as many chemicals or ingredients found in adult skincare. Many adult skincare products now address multiple skin benefits beyond just cleansing and hydration like brightening and anti-aging. None of these benefits and corresponding harsher active ingredients are suitable for children’s skin, even if the formulations are “cleaner”. Adult brands also may not be sufficiently testing their products on kids during development to ensure they are effective and safe enough for kids before marketing products to them. Alternatively, talk to a dermatologist about what products are safe for them!
Are Evereden products safe for kids?
Yes - we pride ourselves in having the best skincare for pre teens, kids, and tweens! Our kids products were painstakingly developed and tested to ensure they are safe and effective for children. They are gentle, hydrating, and soothing products that will strengthen, not harm, kids’ natural skin barrier. All Evereden products go above and beyond the highest standards in safety, quality, and care, as we know that everything touching your family’s skin has the potential to create a lasting impact on health. There is no such thing as too safe or exacting, so we have internally banned over 2,000 ingredients that may be harmful or sensitizing.
How often should my child use skincare products?
At the minimum, your child should use a sunscreen daily to protect their skin against UVA/UVB and the elements. We recommend a daily 3-step skincare routine for kids, tweens, and teens: a gentle cleanser, moisturizer, and sunscreen! Tween skincare depends on the child but starts around age 10, and at that stage we recommend cleansing and moisturizing 2x per day.
How often should my child use sunscreen?
Your child should use sunscreen every day, even on cloudy and rainy days! Their skin is under daily attack from UVA/UVB, pollution, blue light, dust and more and requires adequate protection.
